Dawn Dao
Senior Director of Development
With over a decade of experience in nonprofit development, Dawn brings expertise in major gifts, capital campaigns, and corporate engagement, including partnerships with Fortune 500 companies.
Before E3, Dawn helped lead KIPP Texas’ Rise Together Capital Campaign, an $85 million statewide initiative. The campaign built a new PK–12 Austin campus, expanded early childhood education with free half-day pre-K for three- and four-year-olds, funded professional development for teachers, and offered programs to help juniors and seniors at KIPP Texas – Austin prepare for postsecondary success. Most recently, as interim vice president of development at Waterloo Greenway Conservancy, she managed operations and a multiphase campaign that restored Waller Creek and will eventually expand into 35 acres of open green space.
Her Austin upbringing drives Dawn to connect communities with causes that create a more equitable future. She holds a bachelor’s in political science and global analysis from The University of Texas at San Antonio and a master’s in homeland security and emergency management from Arizona State University.
