Examples of Our Work
Early Childhood
E3 Research Revealed: Students attending high-quality, low-ratio, full-day pre-K programs are more likely to enter Kindergarten fully ready to learn and read by 3rd grade.
Collaborated with Partners: Identified ways to increase pre-K enrollment across the region.
Implemented Solution: All 15 Central Texas school districts now offer high-quality, low-ratio, full-day pre-K programs for four-year-olds and some for three-year-olds. We helped pass Texas House Bill 3 legislation requiring a full day for pre-K.
Advanced Math
E3 Research Revealed: Students who scored in the top 40% of all 5th-grade Math STAAR test-takers experienced high success rates on advanced middle school math pathways, completing Algebra I by 8th grade. However, only 33% of Black students and 46%of Hispanic students with scores in the top 20% were reaching these same advanced math milestones.
Collaborated with Partners: Identified how to increase the number of high-performing students entering advanced math in middle school.
Implemented Solutions: Piloted an opt-out default policy on several campuses that automatically enrolled 5th-grade students who scored in the top 40% of Math STAAR into 6th-grade advanced math. Saw significant gains among high-perfomring Black and Hispanic students completing Algebra I in 8th-grade. Helped pass Texas Senate Bill 2124 requiring all school districts to enroll qualified 5th graders into middle school advanced math automatically. Bill takes effect in the 2024-25 school year.
