Richard Tagle Joins College Possible National Board of Directors

E3 Alliance president and executive director brings extensive experience and a passion for student success to national education nonprofit

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AUSTIN, Texas — July 10, 2025 — College Possible, a leading nonprofit dedicated to making college admission and success possible for students from low-income households, today announced the appointment of Richard Tagle, president and executive director of E3 Alliance, to its National Board of Directors. His appointment is effective June 26, 2025, and runs through June 2029.

Tagle joins a distinguished 12-member board, bringing extensive experience and a deep commitment to educational equity. He was named head of E3 Alliance on January 4, 2024, succeeding founder Susan Dawson.

“It is a tremendous honor to serve on College Possible’s National Board of Directors,” said Tagle. “Empowering students to reach their full potential is not just a mission—it’s a movement. At College Possible, we believe every student deserves a chance to succeed, and together, we’re making that a reality.”

College Possible’s mission aligns perfectly with Tagle’s career-long dedication to student success. The organization provides intensive coaching and support to guide students from low-income households through the college application process and beyond, envisioning a future where a student’s potential is limited only by their talent, motivation, and effort.

Tagle joins Chair Al Fan and fellow board members Manmeet Dhami (Corporate Counsel, Microsoft), Marlene Ibsen (Vice President, Community Relations, Travelers and President & CEO, Travelers Foundation), Dr. Doreen James Wise (Nurse Entrepreneur and Co-Founder of College Forward), Jasmine Jirele (President and CEO, Allianz Life North America), Dr. Fayneese Miller (Emeritus, President and Professor of Psychology and Education, Hamline University), Andrea Mokros (Chief Public Affairs Officer, M Health Fairview), Dr. Jenny Rickard (President & CEO, Common App), and Dr. Suzanne M. Rivera (President, Macalester College) on the national board.

Since taking the helm at E3 Alliance, Tagle has been a dynamic force, actively representing the organization and advocating for educational advancement. His recent engagements include speaking at the Austin Area Research Organization (AARO) Gathering of Central Texas Leaders, participating in Leadership Austin’s inaugural LeaderLab, and serving as a fellow in both the EdRedesign Fellowship for Cradle-to-Career Partnership Leaders and the Rockwood Leadership Institute 2024 PCI Power Building Fellowship. He also works closely with E3’s 16-member board of directors.

Susan Dawson, President Emeritus of E3 Alliance, praised Tagle’s appointment, stating, “His commitment to public education as a cornerstone of a civil and democratic society and his understanding of communities’ crucial roles align perfectly with E3’s mission. His relentless pursuit of outcomes-based, data-driven strategies and his passion for collective impact will greatly contribute to our future progress.”

Since its inception in 2000, College Possible has transformed the dreams of over 90,000 students into reality. Through dedicated near-peer coaches, who are often recent college graduates themselves, the organization provides personalized, no-cost support from high school through college graduation, ensuring students not only gain admission but also thrive in their higher education journeys.

Headquartered in Saint Paul, Minnesota, College Possible operates regional sites in Austin, TX; Chicago, IL; Milwaukee, WI; Omaha, NE; Portland, OR; Saint Paul, MN; and Seattle, WA. It also maintains Catalyze partnerships in California, Minnesota, New York, Tennessee, and Texas.

With a master’s degree in social policy and applied sociology, as well as a bachelor’s degree in sociology from American University in Washington, D.C., Tagle has dedicated over 30 years to fostering student success and strengthening communities. His extensive experience includes leadership roles on the boards of prominent organizations such as Grantmakers for Education (2015–2023), the National Summer Learning Association (2002–2012), College Possible Texas (formerly College Forward) (2016–2021), and the Asian and Pacific Islander Partnership for Health in Washington, D.C. (1998–2006).

Currently, Tagle serves on the National Board of Directors for Horizon and is an active member of the LonestaRP3 Steering Committee. His lifelong commitment to education and community development continues to inspire positive change across the world.
