Empowering Newcomer Emergent Bilinguals: Specialized Training Session for Educators
E3 Team Members Heather Salaz and Rodrigo Lopez to Present at Region 13
AUSTIN, Texas – Thursday, November 14, 2024 – E3 Alliance’s Heather Salaz, Director of Strong Foundations, and Senior Data Analyst Rodrigo Lopez will present at the Region 13 Secondary Newcomers Network today. The “Using Data to Increase Emergent Bilingual Success” session aims to equip educators with strategies to support Newcomer Emergent Bilingual students ages 15-18 as they navigate the challenges of the U.S. education system.
“At E3, we are committed to ensuring that every Newcomer Emergent Bilingual has access to the resources they need to thrive,” Salaz remarked. “Building a robust network of support among educators, administrators, and the community is vital. By utilizing data and sharing best practices, we can empower educators to uncover challenges in the system head-on and ensure all students achieve their educational aspirations.”
This informative session will feature expert guest speakers and interactive networking opportunities, focusing on strategies to help students achieve English proficiency, accumulate high school credits, and pass essential assessments within a constrained timeframe.
Participants will explore essential topics, including credit acquisition, course scheduling, cultural proficiency development, and strengthening family and community support. This seminar is open to all and aims to promote collaboration among educators to ensure that Newcomer Emergent Bilingual students feel safe, supported, and ready to succeed as they start their educational journeys.
