Spotlight on PLN Progress with Pflugerville ISD

Pflugerville ISD presents progress at E3 Alliance's Attendance PLN Symposium

Thanks to Pflugerville ISD for their leadership in our Attendance Peer Learning Network (PLN) for the past 18 months! The Attendance and Math PLNs came together in May to share wins and strategies.

During the meeting, one message stood out: having data isn’t enough — how schools use that data truly drives change. Pflugerville ISD is showing how smart, targeted action based on attendance data makes a real difference.

GOALS AND WINS

Goal: Cut chronic absenteeism by 5% and raise Average Daily Attendance (ADA) by 5% at Connally High School.

Fall 2024 Progress

  • 26% of students moved from chronically absent to regular attendance.
  • 69% of students improved after getting attendance messages.
  • 59% of at-risk students avoided chronic absenteeism.

Connally High School saw 62% of students improve their attendance.

Note: This growth happened after students received personalized support—like texts, mail, and outreach in their language.

WHAT’S WORKING?

  • Sending mail and texts in English and Spanish to families.
  • Offering a multilingual phone support team.
  • Adding a 24/7 chatbot for quick answers.
  • Training staff on early interventions and how to spot root causes.
  • Sharing clear, easy-to-use data with campus attendance teams.

NEXT STEPS

  • Launch an Attendance Task Force Initiative.
  • Grow the pilot group of schools.
  • Run campaigns to boost attendance on low-attendance days.
  • Continue staff training on attendance strategies.
  • Start a Pre-K campaign to teach families about the importance of showing up early and often.

The Attendance PLN continues through December 2025, and Pflugerville ISD is showing what’s possible when you turn information into action.
