Thanks to Ashley Benavidez, Juan Mata, Jennifer Martinez, and Mamie Ramos for their work in our two-year Math Peer Learning Network (PLN). In May, E3’s Math and Attendance PLNs met to share ideas, growth, and next steps.

Del Valle ISD set a clear goal: By August 2025, increase enrollment in 6th–8th grade honors math and advanced high school math courses by 25%. While full results will come later, early progress shows they’re well on their way.

To build momentum, the district took key steps. Teachers, counselors, and school leaders are learning how to support students in joining honors math. The district also updated the honors policy to make expectations clearer and open more doors for students.

A newly formed Secondary Math Task Force is aligning math pathways from middle school to graduation. They created a rollout plan for a new math curriculum starting in 2025–26. This includes special curriculum tracks for 6th and 7th-grade honors students. The district already bought high-quality instructional materials for Algebra II and honors math in middle school.

Looking ahead, Del Valle ISD will continue refining its math pathways and support systems, ensuring all students have access to advanced coursework and the encouragement to succeed. As they move closer to full implementation of the new K–Algebra II curriculum, the district remains focused on increasing awareness, improving instruction, and tracking enrollment trends to keep progress on course.

We’re proud of this teamwork and can’t wait to see what comes next!
